September is National Recovery month, and all throughout the state, people are coming together to support, celebrate, and honor people in recovery.
Recovering from substance use can be very difficult. And even when someone gets healthy, they need a place to live, a community, and a purpose to stay strong.
Unfortunately, it is really common for a person in recovery to have a criminal record, and that makes it difficult for someone to rent an apartment, get a job, and rebuild their life.
That is why we believe expungement is part of recovery. Clearing criminal records can help you reclaim your life, realize your potential, and clear the stigma of your past.
In honor of recovery month, Rasa wants to help the recovery community by donating one free expungement for each day of this month. Records create a lot of barriers, but expungement of a record can make almost an immediate difference in a person’s life.
How To Be Considered for Our Expungement Sponsorship:
If you are a person in recovery, please reach out to us. To be considered for this campaign, go here and use our eligibility tool. We will be selecting one person each day to help for free.
Rasa is offering free use of our eligibility tool at USARA Recovery Days events throughout the state this month.
Individuals must be eligible for an expungement under Utah law to be considered for sponsorship.
We Need Your Help:
While Rasa is providing legal representation free of charge, but we cannot cover the cost of government fees associated with this process. Due to a recent change in Utah law, government fees went up significantly this year to $280 per case.
To make this campaign work, we are teaming up with Utah Support Advocates for Recovery Awareness (USARA) to start a Second Chance fund to help cover the government fees for expungement, so we can help as many people as possible. This allows us to accept tax-deductible donations to help cover the cost of government fees.
So, if you are an individual, a business, or work with a foundation that has money to give, please help us make it possible to provide a second chance to someone this month. Utahns can help double, triple or quadruple our impact by clicking on the Second Chance fund banner link at https://www.rasa-legal.com/
